When I first started this blog, I wrote about the importance of taking a journey toward wellness. The start of a new year is the right time to revisit this topic.
I understand, of course, the holidays may have derailed all of our plans but a new year and every new week can put us back on track. “Motivated Monday” is when we start a new diet or fitness program. On “Tepid Tuesday” we are still all excited, but a bit lukewarm. Then comes “Wobbly Wednesday” when our energy starts to fade away. On Thursday, there is “Total” excitement about the upcoming weekend. “Friday Fun” is followed by “Special Saturday” filled with scheduled time for self-care, shopping/errands/cleaning/ and some relaxing. Last but not least is “Scary Sunday,” when we worry about the upcoming week and wish for a longer weekend: at that point, we have probably forgotten about Monday’s resolution and the circle starts all over.
No worries we’ve got you. By now you must have already started or are in the process of mapping your journey, upon consulting with your health or fitness professional. There are different components to Wellness and each of us should be focusing on our own unique needs and plan. Nonetheless, the key to achieving wellness overall is to start with a healthy body and mind.
Every Wednesday, we will help you stay on course and keep you grounded on who should be the most important person in your life: You.
It’s never too late to start something new or to get back on track. Always consult with your physician before starting any program.
I have known Fabulous Alexandra de Groen since high school. Alexandra, a certified Zumba instructor, will share ideas on how to incorporate aerobics movement into your plan. I have so enjoyed Alexandra’s classes: the music is great and you get a full body workout along with improving cardiovascular fitness which is critical for our age group.
Fabulous Maureen Forbes, a certified Yoga instructor, will explain that Yoga is for all body types and all levels (toning, stretching, flexibility). Maureen (I call her Mo) believes that Yoga is for everyone: I have benefitted from my Yoga classes during the menopause years and throughout my grieving process.
